Auto Detail Services vs Automated Car Washes

By maintaining the appearance of your vehicle, you will enjoy driving it for years to come and when you're ready to sell or trade in your vehicle, you may get a worthwhile return for your extra efforts.

Automotive paint can be damaged by improper shampooing and drying techniques. A proper detail of any vehicle takes time, proper technique, and quality products to make a detail worth the investment and assure the finish of the car is not damaged. Car washes use a machine to wash cars with brushes and cloths that touch hundreds of cars each and everyday. These car washes are fine if you do not care about the final finish on the car. The wash leaves scratches and left over dirt on the paint. After the wash an attendant dries the half washed car with a towel used on prior cars causing more fine scratching of the surface. If you actually pay for a "detail" at one of these car washes, your car gets a coat of bulk wax applied with less than paint friendly applicators by people who are generally not familiar with the products they are using. These car washes buy in bulk and while this wax is cheaper and faster it rarely lasts more than a couple of weeks before it breaks down. This all for a price typically twice what a detail shop will charge.

What makes Advanced Auto Appearance & Sales different is that we are professionals in paint and product application. Detailing is about paint management on the exterior and product application on the interior. All cars have varying paint characteristics and are therefore different, knowing those differences allows us to customize a paint and finish maintenance system for your car. We will discuss everything from stain removal on the interior to the final finish you desire on the exterior. We will discuss many different issues that affect the ability of your car to maintain luster and beauty such as storage and various driving conditions. We will learn your vehicle and use appropriate products to protect and maintain the paint and various other components of the vehicle.

We hand wash your vehicle and use quality wash mitts, compressed air, and clean micro fiber towels to dry the vehicle. After the drying process the mitts and towels are not used again. The next step is to clean the paint by claying the surface to remove bonded contaminants such as fallout, over spray and dust. This step is like deep cleaning that leaves the paint clean and smooth. Most shops skip this step and that means wax applied will be protecting the dirt left on the paint. Once we have the paint perfectly clean and properly prepared, we use a cleaner or polish to remove scratches and swirls. After the paint is meticulously prepared it is ready for a sealant. A properly applied sealant must cure on the car for best performance. A quality sealant will last 4-6 months where wax will last a month or less in our climate. After a proper detail you should be able to feel the difference in the vehicles finish and the appearance should be reflective.

We provide ECO-Friendly products in our auto detail shop. We do not offer mobile services as we feel it is important to contain the run off of vehicle cleaning and not allow waste water to enter the storm drains or the environment. Although we use green friendly products, vehicles have many damaging chemicals within the engine compartment and on the surface so we make sure these harmful chemicals do not enter storm drains which can occur when detailed by mobile services.
